In the same spirit, Callaway Golf Vietnam is currently recruiting a Product Engineer located in Semarang, Indonesia .

JOB OVERVIEW

Under supervision, provides on-site development support at Asian based suppliers for new product development. Reviews product designs for manufacturability and identifies potential processing and/or design issues. Ensures production procedures efficiently utilize material and personnel. Conducts testing of finished product for quality purposes and proposes changes to product specifications as necessary. Works closely with Global Suppliers, Product Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality and Program Managers to meet program deliverables such as Quality, Performance, PAR dates and Launch requirements. Able to identify and resolve technical and logistical issues related to new programs. Validate Process Control Plans adequately define process, testing and inspection requirements. Conducts frequent audits and drives resolution to non-conformances.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under supervision, working in a team environment, identifies, evaluates, and works to resolve manufacturing issues in the daily production processes. Provides some leadership in the optimization and troubleshooting of existing processes. Participates in engineering activities leading towards the design and implementation of process improvements and the technical transfer of new products from research and development to product commercialization.

New Products (40%)

  • Qualify new processes and products with suppliers to ensure global awareness and compliance to procedures and specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise pertaining to the identification and mitigation of design and use risks.
  • Ensure the product meets the design intent, quality, and durability standard as well as components and sub-assemblies.
  • Assist with creating target and limit samples as directed.

Day-to-day support (40%)

  • Collaborate with suppliers in problem solving and methods for improving product quality, design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality and assembly issues and provide assistance to suppliers to achieve maximum performance.
  • Track and trend supplier performance and recommend appropriate actions with new products, including Corrective & Preventive Analysis (CAPA) and failure investigation tools and techniques.

Process Improvement (20%)

  • Provide technical knowledge to continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing productivity and yields.
  • Assist in the identification of new materials, methods, and tools in order to improve current processes and/or equipment.
  • Develop understanding of production processes to identify the key process parameters related to yield and product performance.
  • Support the execution of studies to stabilize, characterize, and optimize key process parameters.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing cut/sew processes required.
  • Experience with Cut/Sew Process Improvements.
  • Experience with Gloves, Golf Bag, Travel Gear or Lifestyle products (i.e., backpacks or luggage) is a plus.
  • Experience with Finished Good Testing is a plus.
  • Experience with Screen printing and similar logo processes is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Power Point, Access, and Excel.
  • Good knowledge of statistical tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal English is required and Mandarin is a plus.
  • Able to read and interpret instructions, procedures, etc.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing environments and priorities and function.
  • Must show evidence of increasing responsibility with years of experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a successful track record.
  • Highly energetic, creative, intelligent, and logical.
  • Able to work extended hours in critical situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Material or Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience.
  • 5 years’ experience demonstrating skills in the above duties.
  • Experience with Soft Goods products.
  • Experience working for a US based company, representing said company in overseas activities.
